“Embrace” by Alan David Ross

Oh blessed Father’s Day 10 years ago.

The moment is vivid in my mind…the scent of his Old Spice still seems to cavort in my nostrils.  No handshake this year, I thought to myself as I embraced him and was hugged in return.  “I love you Dad,” I whispered.

“I love you too, Alan,” he said.

I kissed my Father’s cheek and stepped back, seeing his tears through my tears–what a wonderful moment.  My Father is gone now but not that moment.  It will live on in my memory and continue with its own life after I am gone.

Oh blessed Father’s Day, oh blessed Father…
