Thoughts & Advice about Creative Writing (from Indie Media Fair event last Saturday)

Thanks to everyone who stopped by the Grit Uplifted Creative Writing Group’s table at the Indie Media Fair last Saturday at Central Library. In addition to providing information about the program–including the weekly workshops, the website, the magazine, and community events–we asked the following questions to people who stopped by:

~ What inspires you to write?

~ What writing has inspired you?

~ What benefits do you believe creative writing can bring to a writer? To a reader?

~ What advice do you have for an aspiring writer?

Here is what some of you had to say:

“Everything around me inspires me to write.”

“[I have been inspired by the writing of] Emerson, Wordsworth and Frost.”

“[Writing] can be therapeutic; it can expand your mind to bend and twist; it can free you.”

“My only advice is . . . stop waiting. Try, try and try again.”
