On Saturday August 25, 2012, the participants of the Grit Uplifted Creative Writing Group learned about sounds and patterns in creative writing, and their exercise that day involved writing song lyrics using the guidelines and tips that were provided. The five participants that were present decided to challenge themselves by making a collaborative effort to write a song–not as individuals, but as a group!
Below is the song written by Linda, Wilda, Maggie Sue, Moray and Colin (and another Grit Uplifted participant has already offered to try to put these words to music!)
Deep Within
Take heart, my child, do not fear
For your guardian angel is always near
Jennifer cries among the willows
She looks up to the clouds that resemble pillows
Pillars of strength that once resided
Provided her with the strength required
To exist wholeheartedly in the river of life
And so she dwells in the river of tears
Masking the darkness of the unknown fears
The mysteries unfold much strife
Take heart, my child, do not fear
For your guardian angel is always near.
