“Reality” by Maggie Sue Traynor

It’s pretty sad when you have to say
No extra money for food today
Sugar coat the truth, that’s okay
We don’t want to deal with this today.
Let’s imagine that all is right
For some the future looks somewhat bright
When the darkness falls, what do we do?
Do you really think we can depend on you?
So if you read this and feel rather sad
All we can say is that’s just too bad
Try living the life, then you will see
The truth will not always set you free.
The truth for some can be fighting words
Nose in the air, how absurd
For some this is their reality
Not everyone can be happy and free.
Welcome to our world.
