Today is Thursday, September 15, 2011. I just had to wake up my son so he could also see what had caught my attention. First, a little background in relation to the vision.
Remember reading about Noah and the Ark way back when you were a child? The ark was loaded with a male and female of every mammal and bird. It had floated on the water for 40 days and 40 nights. Would the rain ever stop? It has been raining for so long. A dove had been sent out twice to find dry land after several months of living on this ark. The second time it returned with an olive leaf in its beak. When the waters covering the earth receded, God set his promise in the sky that He would not end the world again by water.
The news reports that torrential rains are causing flooding, people are losing their homes, and the crops in the field are drowning. Even some animals have succumbed to this natural disaster. Sure, this is not what anyone wants to hear or read about, but do not despair. The world will not end by water. God promised, and at times, He reminds us of his promise.
Beauty abounds through the skies every time this phenomenon happens. The sun is shining. The sky is blue. The ground is dry. No dark clouds are visible. But look, there it is! What a beautiful awe-inspiring rainbow. The bands of purple, blue, green, yellow, orange and red appear to be growing out of the top of a tree about two streets away. Well, not really growing out of the tree. But from my line of sight that is where the rainbow appeared to be emanating. The only explanation is that it is raining somewhere in the distance, and the sun is shining through the water droplets, creating this full blown rainbow.
